Schools rethink perfect attendance awards in bad flu season
Wed Feb 13, 2013
I agree. I got perfect attendance a couple years in middle school, but my best friend wasn't even eligible, because she was out one morning a week for her chemo. She had pretty much perfect attendance outside of her medical treatment.
Arctic air sends temperatures plummeting across much of US

People don't seem to understand that climate and weather are not the same thing.
Cough lasts 18 days, no matter what you do, study finds
Mon Jan 14, 2013
Tamiflu worked for the flu because it isn't an antibiotic. It's antiviral medication. Antibiotics won't do a thing for the flu, but they might kill some of your useful digestive bacteria, or help create superbugs.
'They started talking about blood': Neighbor comforted kids who fled Newtown shooting
Tue Dec 18, 2012
I imagine the authorities were also pretty busy trying to help the other kids and so as long as those kids were safe with the guy, they probably couldn't spare the people right away. So calling their parents was the right thing to do.
Sandusky, alleging broad conspiracy, insists he's innocent of child sex-abuse charges
Mon Oct 8, 2012
It's also just a bad thing to do in a sentencing hearing. He's already been found guilty. Give an equivocal apology, sure. Not admit to anything? Fine.
After police shooting of naked college student, mother asks why
Sun Oct 7, 2012
If the kid was shot and kept going, do you think a taser would have stopped him? A deranged person, even a small deranged person, can seriously hurt someone.
Naked freshman shot to death by campus police officer at University of South Alabama
Sat Oct 6, 2012
You do realize tasers don't work on deranged people, right? Some people literally rip them out and just keep coming. Same thing with pepper spray and batons and similar.

California weighs bill to ban gay teen 'conversion' therapy
Wed May 9, 2012
I had a friend whose parents forced him to undergo such therapy when he was a teen. It left him a broken, suicidal mess for years until he embraced himself for who he was. Anyone who has seen the results of this would hope that the government would stop this. It's child abuse, plain and simple.
Judge calls prosecutor's rejection of gay juror 'shocking'
Wed May 2, 2012
Look, I very much support gay marriage, but this judge was overreacting. For instance, if you were trying someone for illegally protesting a football game, and it turned out in the past I had protested a football game, you would exclude me.
